Regarding HB 809, the elimination of ethanol from gasoline, I support this bill. In conversations with energy engineers, auto repair shops, new car owners, they all agree that ethanol does NOT improve or enhance the performance of a gasoline consuming vehicle or the environment in terms of cleaner or fewer carbon emissions.

So, it does not:   1) improve gas mileage; 2) improve the air environment; 3) help engine performance

It does:  1) cost more; 2) create problems with the vehicle's exhaust system by putting more water moisture into it's system; 3) create select agriculture to profit unreasonalby; 4) increase costs and diverts supply of corn from food to fuel

The last item (corn) has more than doubled in price which affects: 1) food for humans; 2) food for livestock; 3) other food and household items where corn is a main staple (like oil and sweeteners)

Food for fuel is perhaps one of the major contributors to higher food prices which only helps two groups - growers and distributors.

The losers? We, the consumer and our vehicles.

This needs to be researched further.

Thank you for your consideration
